How CashBlack Works

Shop with Black-owned brands and earn cashback online, through delivery apps and in person. Here is every part of it, from the click to the cash out.

The Short Version

  1. 1. Join Free

    Just an email and a password. Verify your email, then you are in. No card needed at signup.

  2. 2. Shop Through CashBlack

    Find the brand in the directory and tap through. The brand's site opens in a new tab with our tracking link, and you shop as normal.

  3. 3. Cashback Lands in Your Wallet

    It shows as pending once the brand reports the sale, and confirms once the brand confirms it. Cash out from £10.

Where the Money Comes From

Brands pay CashBlack a commission when you shop with them through us. Your cashback is a share of that commission. No subsidy and no gimmick: the brand pays, and we split it with you.

  1. You Shop

    You start from CashBlack, so the brand knows we sent you.

  2. The Brand Pays Us

    The brand confirms the sale and pays us a commission on it.

  3. We Share It with You

    Your cashback is a share of that commission, usually half.

  4. You Cash Out

    To your bank, or to a Black-led cause through GiveBack.

The rate you see when you click through is the rate we record for that purchase, so it cannot move afterwards.

Earning Online

Most cashback comes from shopping online with the brands in our directory. It works through tracking, so where you start matters.

  • Start from CashBlack

    Tap through from a brand on CashBlack. Its site opens in a new tab and CashBlack stays open in yours. Not logged in? You can log in or register first so the purchase tracks, or carry on without cashback.

  • Rates and Boosts

    Every brand shows the cashback it pays now. A brand with more than one way to buy shows its best rate as "Up To", and you pick the way you want on its page. Boosted rates are marked, with the day they end where there is one.

  • Discount Codes

    Some brands give you a discount code instead of cashback. Our link adds the code at the checkout for you. Where a brand pays cashback as well, the discount and your cashback both apply.

So Your Purchase Tracks

  • Turn off ad blockers and pop-up blockers for the brand's site
  • Keep cookies and JavaScript on, and do not shop in a private window
  • Do not use a voucher code from anywhere other than CashBlack
  • Finish the purchase in the tab we opened, without leaving and coming back another way
  • Keep your order confirmation, in case we need to chase the sale

To Your Door

Black-owned restaurants and takeaways on Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats. You order through the delivery app and earn cashback on it.

  • Half of What the App Pays

    Your cashback is half of the commission the delivery app actually pays us on your order, worked out from what the app reports for it.

  • New or Returning

    Apps pay more for a new customer than a returning one, so every listing shows both figures. The app decides which you are, from your history with that app.

Your CashBlack QR code earns cashback away from the screen too, at our pop-up marketplaces and at Black-owned shops across the UK.

  • One QR Code, Yours for Good

    Every member has a permanent QR code in their wallet. Add it to Apple Wallet and it is always one tap away.

  • Pop-Up Marketplaces

    Show your QR code at a CashBlack pop-up stall and the cashback lands in your wallet. Registered for a pop-up? The stall scans your pass and the purchase matches your account by email.

  • Brick and Mortar

    Find Black-owned shops, salons and restaurants near you. Where a shop scans CashBlack, show your QR code at the till.

Your Wallet

Every purchase moves through the same few states. Only confirmed cashback can be cashed out.

  1. Pending

    We have the sale and the brand is still confirming it. This usually takes a few weeks and sometimes longer, because brands wait out their own returns period first.

  2. Confirmed

    The brand has confirmed the sale and paid us. The cashback joins your available balance.

  3. Paid Out

    You asked for a cash out and we sent it. We pay within 7 days of your request.

  • Cash out once your confirmed balance reaches £10, by bank transfer to a UK account.
  • New payout details are held for 24 hours before a cash out can use them, and you confirm them with your password.
  • A purchase missing from your wallet? Tell us with your order confirmation and we will chase the brand for it.
  • If a brand reverses a sale we already paid you for, it nets off against what you earn later. Your balance is never shown as a debt.

Give Back

When you cash out, you can send some or all of your cashback to a Black-led cause instead. Each donation shows in your Impact Report.

  • We Match It

    We match the part of your donation that came from shopping with brands, pound for pound. Referral bonuses, pop-up and event cashback and other rewards CashBlack funds itself are not matched.

How Brands Join

Brands join CashBlack through Afrofiliate, our sister affiliate network for Black-owned businesses. One plan covers both.

  • Paid on Sales Only

    A brand pays a commission only when a shopper buys, and we share it with the shopper as cashback. Shops without a website join in person with a QR code.
